Pixi is my favorite cosmetic brand to shop whenever I'm at Target. I love the quality of their makeup products and they are usually very reasonably priced, too. I picked up this little eyeshadow palette during the holiday because of no other reason than I love neutral palettes! It's called the Icy Eye Palette in Buff Blizzard. And here's a shocker – it is only $12! For 6 quality eyeshadows in my favorite neutrals, I just couldn't pass up! :)
The long palette is really compact and lightweight and comes with a double-ended sponge tip applicator. There are 6 assorted colors of neutral shadows in here: dark brown (matte), gunmetal gray (shimmer), bronzy brown (shimmer), medium brown (matte), light champagne (shimmer), and icy white (frost). The square edges of the shadows are beveled in the pan — a small detail that I noticed and always appreciate — making them even more appealing to use! :)
Do you know why they are called the Icy Eye Palette, though? When all the shades, except the obvious icy white, are on the warm side. Or is it because the arrangement of shadows in the palette and the palette itself resemble the ice tray in the freezer? Hmm… this I wonder!
I find every single shade in this palette flattering and wearable. And there is a color for every eye makeup job, for example, the shimmery browns for lid color, the matte browns for crease/outer corners, and the frosty white for highlight. The icy white shade is really stunning! When used in the inner corners, it really makes my eyes look brighter and more awake! My favorite is the gunmetal gray, though. Such a beautiful shade of gray and perfect for a smoky eye, too. There are enough colors and combination of finishes here that will help you create anything from daytime to evening looks!
This is my first palette from Pixi, so I didn't know what to expect in terms of quality. To be honest, for $12, I didn't really expect much. But upon using it for the first time, I was completely blown away! These shadows are extremely soft, buttery smooth, and richly pigmented! They are such a breeze to apply and they blend beautifully without any noticeable fallout. The shimmery shades leaves such a gorgeous sheen on the lid without being too shimmery/glittery at all. The mattes are a little less pigmented but they still glide on with ease and are not patchy in anyway.
I am completely impressed with the quality here, considering the budget-friendly price! They are also long-lasting and I did not experience any creasing when applied over an eye primer. They pretty much stay on through my work hours without any fading issue. Impressive.
The palette is a limited edition but last weekend when I was at Target, there are still some left. If you don't live near Target, you can also purchase it online (see link below) at your convenience. And if you are purchasing directly from Pixi website, the palette is now on sale for only $8.40! Absolute bargain! I am absolutely in love with the formula of the Pixi's shadows so much that I am now thinking of picking up their bigger palette (the Perfection Makeup Palette in Lit Up Lovely) the very next time I'm at Target! :)
