Unlike July, August is a month full of activities for me! Some of the things I did: I had sun spots on my face lasered off, went to my brother's birthday extravaganza, went shopping and bought obscene amount of makeup (see the epic haul), went to Cambodia for a visa run, and I also got to see my significant other play drums live for the first time after years of not playing (and he did so well no one knew he hadn't played for a long time!). I could barely keep up with what's going on and as a result, wasn't able to blog as often as I'd like. I'm also so far behind on blog reading and returning comments but hopefully in September things will die down a little bit! (Please bear with me my blogger friends and readers!) Now onto some of the products I've been loving this month! They are mostly classic items that I think worth checking out if you haven't already!

Bobbi Brown Yogi Bare Lip Balm (US$20 | Nordstrom)

Bobbi Brown Yogi Bare Lip Balm

Did you misread it? It's Yogi Bare, not Bear. :D For anyone who collects lip balms (or love lip balms in general), this is a must-have! Every time I use it I'm still amazed at how moisturizing and long-lasting it is. It truly keeps my lips nourished and in great shape all day and night. A bit pricey for a stick of lip balm but it will last a really long time considering that you only need very, very small amount per application. Check out my full review here.

Sephora Precision Pore Cleansing Pad (US$6 | Sephora)

Sephora Precision Pore Cleansing Pad

This is probably the best US$6 I have ever spent on a face cleansing tool! I've been kicking myself for not picking it up much sooner. This little silicone scrubbing pad is so gentle on the skin yet so effective at removing impurities from your face and enhancing the performance of face cleansers. Not to mention super easy to use, clean, and travel with. I've been using it every morning and night on a non-Clarisonic day! Read my full review here.

Dior Pore Minimizer Skin Refining Matte Primer (US$42 | Sephora)

Dior Pore Minimizer Skin Refining Matte Primer

This month I gave this primer another try. I reviewed it back in winter 2014 and found it to be difficult to use. However, I had so many foil packet samples of it that I wanted to get rid of so I thought I'd give it another try to see if it would perform better on my summer skin. And it did! I fell so in love with it that I ran out to buy a new tube. The texture is so light and spreads so easily. It does cover pores and mattify the skin really well as promised while prepping the skin for makeup. And it helps keep my face matte for long hours, too! Check out my original review here.

Tom Ford Flush Cheek Color Blush (US$60 | Nordstrom)

Tom Ford Flush Cheek Color Blush

I reviewed this gorgeous coral blush last year while the price was US$56, now it's $60! And I thought $56 was already outrageous! >.< Well, I'll leave it to you whether you think this is justifiable to spend so much on a single blush but as for the blush itself, it's beyond beautiful and still remains my favorite coral blush of all time. It has incredible color payoff and contains very subtle, fine shimmer that translates to a soft glow on the cheeks. I took a photo of me wearing it in my review but don't let the poor lighting fool you (I have come very far with portrait lighting huh?!), Flush looks absolutely much more flattering in person! :)

MAC Lipstick in Lovelorn (US$17 | Nordstrom)

MAC Lipstick in Lovelorn

Also a price increase (from 2013) but only for US$2. ;) No complaints, though, since I received this one free from the Back to MAC program. Lovelorn is what I wore almost exclusively in August because I couldn't get enough of the beautiful color and luscious Lustre formula. Sheer, yes, but wow, so comfortable on the lips and it has just enough lovely shine that I don't need to follow with a lip gloss. Short wear time, yes, but it's so easy to re-apply mid-day since the color is practically fool-proof. See it in action here.

What do you think of makeup price increase? I think we are already paying top dollar and I can't imagine how much they will cost in the next 5 years. Would the Tom Ford Blush be costing $80 by then? Does it mean I should buy the colors that I don't have but want now instead of waiting? ;)

I have such a hard time with TF’s prices… :-) His products look so beautiful but it’s somehow so much easier to pay $35 for a Chanel lipstick than $50 for one of his….

    • Jaa says:

I know what you mean! And his prices are going up, too! Have you seen his new ombre eyeshadow/blush powders? So small yet more expensive than his regular blushes. I have a hard time talking myself into buying one. LOL. I think I’ll sit it out a bit.

  • Flush is so beautiful. I think it is justifiable but it might be just me! ;-)

LOL! I’m trying to decide whether I should get Frantic Pink now before the next price jump! I’m hesitating because the last thing I want is a product that accentuates my oily skin even more (Frantic Pink is quite shimmery yeah?) but man, it’s so, so beautiful!

  • Erin says:

One day I’ll get a TF blush too and be part of the glitterati! For now, I’ll have to make do with Tarte, Clinique, NARS, and Armani. Why does TF have to be so expensive! I love almost everything his line makes!

    • Jaa says:

I often wonder the same thing. Why does everything have to be SO expensive?! But then the Christian Louboutin lipsticks came along and are priced at US$90 a piece. THAT PUT TOM FORD LIPSTICKS TO SHAME! LOL! And I thought $50+ lipstick is already outrageous!

  • Lily says:

Ah yes, I remember your huge haul :-) I say go live your life and don’t worry about your blog. Your readers will still be here, and I’m guilty of being behind in reading too! But it’s just been so so so hectic.

    • Jaa says:

I followed your advice to start afresh on blog reading! I’ll try to keep up this time, or at least that’s my plan. LOL. I don’t have kids to take care of. I don’t have hardcore workout to follow. I don’t even have to cook or clean. But I don’t know where all my time goes! It’s such a mystery! LOL!

  • Jen says:

Nice picks! Flush is one of my fave blushes for sure- pricey, but gorgeous stuff :)
