If you ask me what is the one makeup product that I've been wearing continuously and religiously without fail for the past year and a half, I'd have to say it's this Benefit Chachatint Cheek & Lip Stain! I know I said in this post that Lollitint (review) was my favorite among Benefit Cheek & Lip Stains but well, not anymore. Chachatint has taken the number one spot and in fact, has become my most favorite tint of all time. I guess it has something to do with the tropical climate that I live in right now. In this post, I'll convince you why every makeup tint wearer should add Chachatint to their arsenal!

Full ingredients
WATER (AQUA), ETHYLHEXYL STEARATE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, DIMETHICONE PEG7 PHOSPHATE, SQUALANE, PHENOXYETHANOL, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), LECITHIN, POLYSORBATE 60, YELLOW 6 (CI 15985), TETRASODIUM EDTA, RED 7 LAKE (CI 15850), RED 27 (CI 45410), DISODIUM EDTA. N° 05786/N

Like all of Benefit Cheek & Lip Stains, Chachatint is packaged in a nail polish-style bottle with a brush applicator attached to the inside of the cap. The bottle features a metallic coral color to represent the color of the tint inside. I wish it would come in a transparent bottle like that of the Benetint, though, as it's impossible to see the amount left in the bottle. Plus the applicator doesn't quite reach all the way to the bottom (I know this because I am just finishing up my current bottle and I have to use a disposable lip gloss applicator to pick up the last bit out). Despite being dubbed as “mango tint“, Chachatint doesn't smell anything like mango. In fact, it doesn't have any smell at all. And the color to me isn't mango color, either, more like a super bright neon coral as seen in my arm swatch below.

But don't let the alarmingly bright color fool you, Chachatint is easy to apply to a natural finish! Thanks to it's thick, milky-like texture making it so much easier to use and blend than the runny Benetint. It's about as thick as the Lollitint in my opinion.

Cheek application

On the cheeks, Benefit recommends applying three small strokes across the apples of your cheeks and blend away. In my experience, however, I feel that I have a better control if I dab the brush on the back of my hand and then pick up the color and blend with my fingertips instead. The product dries fast, and also stains fast! You have to be able to blend it out right away or else it could leave streaks or look blotchy. Fingertips are my blending method of choice but synthetic duo fibre brushes (such as MAC 159) work well, too.

It leaves such a gorgeous peachy orange flush on my cheeks. I love it so much! It certainly warms up my complexion making it look like I've just spent hours in the warm sun. It works on bare/moisturized skin as well as under and over foundation. You can also mix it with an illuminator such as High Beam to add a little glow. The best part is it stays vibrant until you remove it; no fading or smudging even when I sweat or get rained on. And you'll need an oil-based remover to completely dissolve it.

Lip application

It stains just as strong on the lips! However, the color pulls a bit darker on my lips since my natural lip color is quite pigmented. The red base shows up quite nicely, too. The application isn't quite smooth and effortless like when it's applied on the cheeks. I find that it can stain unevenly if over-applied or if you don't blend quickly enough but at least it doesn't seem to settle into lip lines. It can also feel a bit drying so I always put a thin coat of lip balm underneath (lip balm, blot the excess oil, then apply the tint). The matte finish is nice but I prefer adding just a hint of tinted lip balm (I recommend the Chachabalm) over it to “seal” the finished look. It feels completely weightless and can withstand meals and plenty of water. You can use it as a base to amp up your favorite lip color, too.

The pigmentation is buildable but usually 1-2 layers are more than sufficient for me. My advice is to let the first layer completely dry before adding further layers to prevent a streaky finish. It layers well with Benetint and Posietint, too, in case you wish to mix and match.

I've already purchased my second bottle and since I've been using it regularly I can tell you that one bottle lasts me about a year and a half. That's pretty impressive value for money. My suggestion is to try not to apply it directly on both the skin and lips for hygiene reasons.

Benefit products can be hits and misses but for Chachatint, I highly recommend it especially if you love tropical/coral hues. It's easy to use and it perks up your complexion in a flash. Absolutely a must-have for the coming summer months! :)
