You know how much I love my Bite lip products! (See reviews: Kumquat Matte Crème Lip Crayon, Agave Lip Mask, and Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub) So when I learned of the new offering from them — the lip gloss set — from my good friend Hoku that was launched just in time for Sephora's annual 15% off, I pretty much jumped at the chance! My love for Bite products, together with lots of praises from her (who is usually picky about what she uses), pretty much sealed the deal for me. There wasn't even the slightest of hesitation of whether to get it or not! :)

The set, called Deconstructed Rose Lip Gloss Library, comes with 12 mini lip glosses (each one 0.05 oz vs 0.13 oz full size). Each color is rose-hued and also slightly rose-scented. They are supposedly formulated with food-grade ingredients so you are safe if you happen to accidentally ingest it! I really love and appreciate a wide variety of colors here, we've got lots of nudes, pinks, corals, reds, and even some plummy shades. And every single color is actually one I would wear, too.

Shade names:

  1. One – light pink/mauve
  2. Two – rosey pink
  3. Three – light coral
  4. Four – raisin
  5. Five – mauve
  6. Six – dusty rose
  7. Seven – dusty coral
  8. Eight – muted cherry
  9. Nine – apple red
  10. Ten – jewel red
  11. Eleven – dark red/brown
  12. Twelve – deep purple

Don't you just love how easy they named each color? :D No sexual-explicited names here (*cough Nars *cough!).

These are shimmer-free glosses and the texture is just smooth and lovely, albeit a bit sticky. They are creamy but quite thick in consistency that I find myself dipping the doe-foot wand in and out multiple times to get enough color to cover my entire lips. Although I'm not one to appreciate sticky lip glosses in general, but I'll have to let it slide this time because the colors are so gorgeous, and you can't deny the fact that sticky glosses translate to better longevity that non-sticky ones.

The level of pigmentation is quite excellent for lip glosses, too. Usually nude glosses barely show up on my pigmented lips, but these do show up quite well. And the best part about these nudes? They do not settle into lip lines!

But I have to say, the darker shades are the star here, though! They are super pigmented, and with multiple coats, they could pass for a full coverage lipstick with lots and lots of shine. Of course, you can apply them sheer, too. In the lip swatches below, I really packed it on to show you how richly pigmented they are! :)

And if you don't like lip products that stain, you are in luck because these do not stain. The shine fades fairly quickly but the color stays on for a good few hours. They are moisturizing, wear comfortably, and do not dry out lips even after they completely wear off. Definitely one of the best lip gloss formulas I've tried out there. :)

I have not worn all 12 shades but I have tested more than half of them so far. I just wanted to get this post up today because it's the last day for Sephora 15% off and I wouldn't want you to miss it if you are a lip gloss fan and looking for a great deal to splurge on. I am completely happy with my purchase and can see myself not reaching for other glosses for a while. Bite really did it again this time!

  • I love the four darkest shades, but the light ones look too similar for this to be worth it to me. Thank you for the swatches!

    • Sunny says:

I’m with Emi! I thought they’d be a little more pigmented from the swatches, but it looks like half of the shades will end up looking too similar on me. Thanks for the swatches and heads-up, Jaa!

      • Jaa says:

You’re welcome, Sunny! I top my lipstick with a nude lip gloss a lot so I think this set is still a great value to me. Although it would be nice, just like you said, if they were just a tad bit more pigmented!

    • Jaa says:

Hey Emily, I think the nudes would work better for people with pale lips. The colors would come through better and “truer”. My lips are super pigmented so anything sheer usually look the same on me. :)

  • Sylirael says:

I love 9, 10 and 12 :-) I wish Bite was available here, although I’m probably lucky it’s not, or I’d go crazy and spend too much money on their stuff :-P

    • Jaa says:

I love #12 very, very much! When worn sheer, it’s SO lovely! :) I sometimes wonder too what it would be like if I had no access to all these makeup brands. I would have had a lot of money saved! Haha. So, in a way, you ARE lucky! :D

  • popsicle13 says:

Wow! They look amazing and the whole packaging are very sleek . Dark shades look stunning so far so good .

    • Jaa says:

Yeah, they look stunning when they are all lined up in their cardboard box! I had so much fun taking photos for sure! :) Do we have Bite Beauty in Sephora Thailand?

      • popsicle13 says:

no we don’t ! Sephora here is small and there are not many brands here . it save money in a good way .lol

        • Jaa says:

I agree! LOL. There was a time when I stopped looking at these reviews and sort of shut myself off form beauty blog surfing, you wouldn’t believe how much money I was able to save! But of course, it didn’t last long. Here I’m back to buying in full force again, lol!

  • Laura says:

You got it!! I really love this set. Twelve is my favorite shade, but I haven’t even tested most of the light shades on myself yet.

I hope you are going to do a haul post for all the things you got in the VIB sale! I might have to make one last purchase tonight.. hmm..

    • Jaa says:

Same here, Laura! #12 is my favorite color of the bunch!! :D I’d love to know how the nude shades show up on you after you have tried them!

I was thinking of doing a haul post but when I got them all together for photos, I felt ashamed. LOL! I bought wayyyy too much! Most of them I don’t even need!!! And yet here I am, still on Sephora site, hoping to make my last purchase tonight as well haha! Do you have any items in mind you’d like to purchase? I need some ideas, too!

      • Laura says:

The last thing I ordered that hasn’t yet arrived is the Sephora Favorites “Meet Your Match” set. It’s a pretty good deal and I love the idea of matching nail colors and lip products!

Some items recently added to my Loves:
Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Skincare Set
        Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation
Kat Von D Esperanza Eyeshadow Palette
Anastasia Beauty Express for Brows and Eyes

But I really don’t NEED any more :p Did you see the new freebie, the Urban Decay eyeshadows and primer? Seems like a nice deal, even though I certainly don’t need it!

        • Jaa says:

Oh I wanna try LM Silk Creme Foundation so bad! Maybe I’ll copy you and add it to my cart, too! You are a bad influence, Laura! Haha!

I also love the look of the Kat Von D Esperanza Eyeshadow Palette but pastels are usually not my colors (they tend to look stark against my skin).

I saw the UD freebie, it does look like a good deal! But I don’t think we need anymore of their eyeshadows or primers!

On an unrelated note, how come you don’t have a beauty blog?! You have so much product and knowledge that I think you would be so good at it! :D

  • Laura says:

I would like to blog but I have always been so busy with school. Now that I’ve graduated, I can consider it again! I also know nothing about how to run a blog and how to make it.. well, pretty, and that would really bug me if my blog didn’t look nice. I’ll think about it!

    • Jaa says:

It is fun and very time-consuming! It takes me easily 4-5 hours to do each post (from taking photos, editing, and writing). It’s not easy considering I have a full-time job, too. But I never complain. I guess I’m just really passionate about it, every aspect of it is fun for me. :D

Let me know if you ever need help with anything. I don’t know a whole lot but I can at least get you started. :)

  • Laura says:

(Oh geez, here’s another comment from Laura! :p)

I’ve finally tried out the rest of the shades, here are my brief thoughts:

One: too light for me, it seems to make my entire lips look like they’re peeling >.<
Two: I wouldn't choose a shade this light if I were buying a gloss separately (not in a set), but I actually like it. It matches my natural lip shade fairly well.
Three: Same situation as Two, but I like it even more! This one looks almost entirely clear on me, which might bother some people ("the color doesn't even show up!") but I looove it!
    Four: I like this one.
Five: Probably my favorite of the first six. This one seems more subdued than Four, & just a shade off of my natural lip color.
Six: Just pink enough without being TOO pink. Very pretty, I like it.
Seven: I'm not crazy about this one, it's a bit too orange for my taste. However, I don't hate it.
Eight, Nine, Ten, Eleven: In order, I like Eight most, then Eleven, then Nine, then Ten.
Twelve: My definite favorite :D You know I love purple lip products!

And my last purchase last night was the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. I'm crossing my fingers that it looks good and doesn't accentuate my dryness! Did you end up getting anything else?

    • Jaa says:

LOL I always appreciate your comments, Laura! Twelve really is a beautiful shade!

I’d LOVE to know what you think about LM Silk Creme once you tried it! I bought Elizabeth and James Nirvana White. :D

  • Erin says:

    That’s only $4 a gloss!

  • Hoku says:

Look whose name was on this post? yay!

These colors came off more pigmented on me since my lip color isn’t as pigmented as yours. They smell so good…I am in love with them <3

  • Thank you for the great swatches!! The glossy bright red is my favorite on you – I know! the brightest, reddest one! But seriously, you can so pull off red like nobody’s biz. This is a great set, and Bite is kicking major arse cakes lately! Their matte lip crayons have me jonesing, especially Grape! And girrrrrl, I am with you 100% on being very over the whole naming cosmetics after sexually explicit things. I did my mom’s makeup this weekend and she fell in LOVE with one eye look I did. Luckily she’s hilarious and youthful so she cracked up when I told her the color I used in the crease was called, “Erotica”!! But it’s like come on, can’t we name things fun names that don’t call to mind prostitution and mid-90’s Madonna?! ;)

    • Jaa says:

Exactly! I should forward your comment to Nars! Haha. Your mom is awesome!

I agree, Bite has been releasing a lot of awesome products lately! Have you seen the new Bite BB for Lips! I want!!! :D
