I am crazy about pinky nude lip liners. I think I have about 25-30 of them in my collection (don't judge; I'm a beauty addict blogger ;D). I'm crazy about them as much as I'm crazy about makeup palettes! The newest addition to my stash is one of the most talked-about right now — Pillowtalk from Charlotte Tilbury. :D

The full name of the pencil is “Lip Cheat Re-Size & Re-Shape Lip Liner” meaning you can use this pencil not only to line, but also to “outline” your lips to create an illusion of perfectly shaped (re-shape) and fuller (re-size) lips. I suppose that's why the product is called Lip Cheat!

Pillowtalk doesn't look like a pinky nude on the pencil but the actual color when worn is actually very nude with strong muted pink hues. I find this type of nude universal and may I say flattering on most skin tones. It's not too pale, not too pink, and not too nude. It is light enough that you can wear it under your lipstick without tweaking the lipstick's color, yet it's also pigmented enough that you can wear it on its own without looking too pale. The pigmentation is incredibly rich and opaque; it covers my natural lip color in one pass. Though the consistency is on the drier side, I don't find it to drag or skip during application, provided your lips are conditioned beforehand. Avoid applying directly on dry lips as it can accentuate the dry areas. I like how it manages to even out my lip color beautifully and also provides a smoother base for my lipstick or lip gloss application. The matte finish it leaves is a good, creamy, non-tacky kind of matte and not a drying matte at all.

Lip lining is such a necessary step for me. As you can see in the photo illustration below that my lips are naturally quite pigmented and uneven toned. Lining my lips helps the lipstick to show up truer to its color, provides smooth canvas for the lipstick to hold on to, and extends the lipstick's wear time. My lipstick wears longer for several more hours when worn over Pillowtalk compared to bare lips.

In the photo above, I filled in my entire lips and resized them by lining Pillowtalk slightly outside the edge to create a bigger, fuller lip look. You can clearly see how my lips still look natural and not too made-up at all. It is also evident how my lips look so much smoother and more even-toned in the after picture! :) As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, I have a large collection of lip liners! I'm wondering if I should do a big post similar to my huge Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils comparison post? Would you be interested in seeing my collection? :)

  • Oh my, the difference is spectacular! I just started using lip liner (I know, I am so late to the party) and while I can tell that it all looks a bit more intense and more defined, the difference on my lips isn’t as drastic as it is on you. This lip liner looks particularly creamy by the way.

Is it because you already have such naturally pale lips? My lips are pretty pigmented to begin with so anything light-colored will have a stronger impact on me. :D Pillowtalk *is* very creamy but not too creamy — I like! :)

  • Sunny says:

Hey Jaa, I say yes to a mega comparison post!!! This one does look great. I like how it is not too flesh-toned. Those just make me look really dead! Do you line your lips every day? I only do that for very special occasions lol

  • Carolyn says:

I have and love Pillow Talk as well! For me personally, lip liner is not such a necessity but a nice to have :). In fact, the last time I used lip liner before Pillow Talk was for my wedding over a year ago, haha! I really am enjoying Pillow Talk though and notice my lipstick or gloss lasts much longer with this used as a base!

    • Jaa says:

I remember your rave review! :) Pillowtalk definitely extends the staying power of anything you put on top significantly!

  • I like the colour!

  • Erin says:

I love this liner on you. I have the same problem with uneven pigment except mine is mostly on the outside. The lip just isn’t as intense as the middle. I’m not sure this is a great color for me to match my lip color but might make a stunning base for a nude gloss. The texture of this just seems impeccable.

    • Jaa says:

Oh this one looks lovely under a nude lip gloss! I’ve tried it on multiple occasions with different nudes and it surprisingly layers well with all of them. I still think you should at least have a swatch! :)

  • Sylirael says:

DO IT :-D I wana see ALL THE LIPLINERS, haha! I love comparison posts so much, it’s ridiculous. Especially when I’m begging for a comparison post for a product that I only own two of, one of which is transparent, andone of which is pinky (but I got kind of by accident along with other stuff). Maybe it will inspire me to wear lipliner more!

the only one I’ve wanted to get recently is the Always Toasted one from L’Oreal (on Lisa Eldridge’s recommendation, of course), but I don’t think we have that line at the L’Oreal alcoves here. Typical Middle Earth!

    • Jaa says:

I was hoping you’d say no, lol. It will be a lot of work! But it should be fun! :D

Recommended by THE Lisa Eldridge?! I shall hunt that thing down!! I’m so going to get it tonight! LOL!

Oh don’t leave me. Come back. (((((Syl)))))

  • Lily says:

I have a thing against lining the lips outside its natural line, but this one definitely looks natural on you! I have a few lip liners but never really got into using them :-P

    • Jaa says:

I usually don’t line outside my lip line, either. I find it too obvious but this one looks very natural; I’m impressed! :)

  • Liz says:

    *votes for collection post* :D

I almost never use lip liners. I reserve one red liner for the 2-3 days out of the year when I want to make extra special effort, and sometimes I do buy a nude liner for the hell of it but end up giving it away not long after. You are hardcore, my friend!

    • Jaa says:

Well, collection post it is! ;D I’ve become so used to lining my lips now that when I forget to do it, I can actually feel something is missing! LOL.

  • Fiona says:

Hey Jaa! I have been drooling over Charlotte Tilbury for some time now ! I think this is sooo pretty and looks good on you too:) I want something from her collection soon.

  • Krithi says:

wow such a pretty rosy color and it looks like super creamy too

  • This looks great! I only use lip liner with bolder lipstick to perfect the edges or when I want my lipsick to really last. I only own 3 liners – one red, one hot pink, and one nude! I’d love to see your collection!

    • Jaa says:

I feel out of place (and ashamed). Everyone seems to own only a few lip liner shades. I have 30 of one shade. LOL!

  • Katerina says:

I really love this colour.. Your lips do look so natural and beautiful! ^_^

  • sonali bhattacharya says:

hi jaa i really loved your explanation of the charlotte tilbury lip cheat in pillow talk.ok you just said that this lip liner is not too nude or too much pink to overshadow the lipstick color on top of that.can you plz plz tell me if the tom ford lip color in blush nude can be worn with pillow talk lip liner or not because i am in search for a lip liner which is pink enough to cover the natural pigmentation of my lips. but not too much pink to overshadow the actual color of the lipstick color BLUSH NUDE.thanks.kindly reply plz.will be waiting.thanks.

    • Jaa says:

I think they’d compliment each other really well, Sonali! I’d imagine Pillowtalk to add a cool nude-pink tinge to Blush Nude a little. Maybe apply it lightly as a base? Hope this helps!

  • Branka says:

I love products of this brand.
    Great post.
