I am no stranger to hair oil. In fact, I prefer oil formula over cream, spray, gel, or balm when it comes to protecting my hair and smoothing away frizz. I feel that it absorbs into my hair better and the effect also lasts longer. Here are my top three hair oils that I use regularly and are on my current rotation! :)

Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil

Oribe Gold Lust
Nourishing Hair Oil

US$49 | Space NK
Color: Clear
Main ingredients:
“Oribe Signature Complex, argan oil, jasmine oil, sheer butter”
Why I like it:
This is by far the best-smelling and best-performing hair oil I have tried to date. It smells heavenly! Sort of herbally but in a really good, pleasant way. The oil absorbs instantly and does not leave greasy residues, nor does it weigh my hair down. Can be used on damp hair before blow drying as a heat protectant or on dry hair to smooth away frizz and protect hair from UV damage. It leaves my hair so soft and bouncy long until my next wash. I call it my liquid gold!

Moroccanoil Treatment

US$43 | Nordstrom
Color: Honey gold
Main ingredients:
“argan oil, strengthening proteins and shine-boosting vitamins”
Why I like it:
I'm not too crazy about the scent of this one. It's an OK scent but it's just a tiny bit too strong and it does linger. The formula is thicker and heavier than the Oribe one and tends to leave my hair slightly greasy if I apply too much. However, I like that with just a touch of it, it tames away frizz and flyaways very quickly and effectively! It also leaves my hair super shiny and healthy! But since it's heavier, I feel like I need to wash my hair sooner than when I use the Oribe one.

L'Oréal Total Repair 5 Extraordinary Oil

L'Oréal Total Repair 5
Extraordinary Oil

US$5.59 |
Color: Clear
Main ingredients:
“sunflower seed oil, coconut Oil, soybean oil, flower extracts”
Why I like it:
The “dry to coarse hair” has a stronger and sweeter scent and is also thicker and takes longer to absorb. I prefer the “all hair types”one better for its lightweight and non-greasy formula. For the price, they perform really well to keep my hair smooth, frizz-free, and shiny. Both make my hair feel really, really soft! To the point that I can't stop touching my hair during the day! :D However, my hair tends to fall flat and feel quite heavy and oily the next day.

I have not done my Currently Lovin' series for a long time and I think this is probably the first time in 6 months! Do you like it? Should I continue more often? :D

Do you use hair oil? How do you keep your winter hair shiny and healthy?

Oh that Oribe one looks divine!!! I can only use most hair oils as a pre-shampoo treatment, as real oil is a little too greasy to use post-shampoo (for me) and I don’t like the ones that are actually silicone! I vote yes to continuing with the series! I’m loving it!

    • Jaa says:

Thanks, Sunny! I think I will! :D The Oribe one doesn’t feel greasy at all, though! :D At least not on me. :D

You might prefer the Moroccan Light. I adore the fragrance of it so I don’t mind that part. The original is too much for my fine hair. I’ve been using OGX Moroccan one, it’s cheap and it works well. I need use a clarifying treatment every few weeks when I use it to get rid of the build up.

I like it! Always interested in what others love and I’ve wondered about the L’Oréal Extraordinary Oil. Pity that it’s not for two day usage. Normally I liberally apply serum the night before washing my hair, softest and shiniest <3

How you feel about the Oribe oil is my feelings on MoroccanOil, but we have very different hair. :) I like the product comparison posts and want to do more of them myself this year.

    • Jaa says:

To me, comparison posts are more fun to write (and more interesting to read!). :D Looking forward to your posts! :)

I hear *so much* about Oribe products, seriously!! Now my blog BFF is joining in – it’s a conspiracy, LOL! :-D I’m still relatively immune to the temptation, since I absolutely *hate* the feeling of…well, pretty much anything in my hair, especially anything that I think will make my hair feel sticky, or weigh the fine strands down (even if others feel it’s super light – I’m almost overly sensitive to things in my hair!)

But then I also hate to have to make any effort with my hair further than shampoo –> air dry –> bun/ponytail, so laziness plays a big part ;-)

    • Jaa says:

Haha I do that sometimes, too, especially on weekends. Shampoo, condition, air-dry, and ponytail! But when I go to work, I’d like to make myself a bit more presentable. LOL.

  • Neary says:

Wonder if Oribe Gold Lust Oil is for thick/fine hair or thinning hair. I born with a dry/thinning hair and look for the good oil for it.
