Winter is all about moisturizing, moisturizing, and moisturizing! And today I have a review of another moisturizing lipstick to share with you and it’s none other than the Dior Addict Extreme! :D
Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick has an identical casing to the Addict lipstick except for the color of the square cap which is deep blue. At a glance it looks almost black but when blasted with a light, it’s actually blue and transparent. Besides the big Dior logo on the cap, CD is also embossed on the knob of the tube where you pull out the lipstick. The packaging is a little bulky in my opinion but it feels sturdy enough. The cap closes to a secure click which I like so overall, a pretty classy packaging from Dior.
I purchased 479 Holiday and 486 Cruise which are both Sephora-exclusive shades. Holiday is slightly pinker than Cruise and when heavily layered, it can come off a little Barbie doll pink. Cruise is a warmer rosy pink shade that looks like a MLBB shade on my lips. They are lightly fragranced but the scent is not noticeable when worn.
Dior combines 4 specialist waxes in the formula, so the first thing I noticed about these lipsticks is they feel waxy (but not greasy) and slippery. They glide on the lips with ease and with a lot of slip, almost lip balm-like. The texture is soft and smooth as well as light and hydrating, so much so that you can pretty much skip applying a lip balm underneath. They don’t emphasize any flaky bits on the lips at all, in fact, I find them to cover up all kinds of imperfection really well and make my lips look healthy, plump, and nourished.
The pigmentation is on the sheer side but the coverage is buildable. Wear lightly for a sheer finish or you can build it to a medium to full intensity. They layer well but I find that I need to blot slightly between layers or my lips will become too waxy.
One thing I’m not too crazy about is the extreme shiny, wet-look effect! Good thing it wears off quickly within a couple hours! The lipstick wear time itself is of average 4-5 hours on me but what I like is the color seems to fade evenly as the day progresses and leaves a slight staining effect and this means at the end of day I still have something left on my lips!
I find Dior Addict Extreme to be very comfortable to wear in Winter as the formula keeps my lips soft and adequately moisturized throughout the day even in cold Winter air. Between the two shades, I like Cruise a little more as it blends better with my skin coloring and the warmer, rosier shade seems to brighten up my complexion more. Although once the initial color fades, they become pretty much identical on my pigmented lips.
Do you own any? What shade do you have? I’m thinking of picking up a few more colors but I’m not sure what to go for so I’m taking suggestions! :)
