There are just so many things I want to buy from the new Haute Chocolate Collection for Spring 2014 from Too Faced – the Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette, the new shades of La Crème Color Drenched Lip Cream, and even the Instant Attitude Brow Lift Brow Bone Highlighting Pencil – but the one thing I knew the instant I saw the collection photos before anything else was I must own the new Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Something About Berry! :)

Similar to Candy Glow (Too Faced’s first Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush), Something About Berry features a flattering trio of 3 shimmering shades of baked formula blushes, from left to right: mauve pink, peach, and magenta pink, housed in a heart-shaped pan and resting neatly inside the heart-shaped cardboard container. I mean, can it get any more adorable than this? :) The lid does close down pretty tight too, and while the cute shape may not offer the easiest storage option, it sure is lightweight and sturdy enough to take with you on the go.

Common to most baked blushes, the texture of Something About Berry is silky soft and with the gentlest touch of a brush can kick up quite a bit of powder on the surface. Together with a super intense pigmentation, you really need to be watchful of how much of the product gets picked up. In my experience, I barely touch the tip of the bristles to the blush and that’s more than plenty to achieve a light-colored flush on both of my cheeks. If you are heavy-handed, definitely tap off any excess before applying. I recommend using a brush with loose bristles such as MAC 187 Duo Fibre stippling brush or a fan brush.

According to Too Faced, the 3 shades can be used individually or swirled together for a customizable flush color, however, to apply only one color, you may need a really small and tapered brush to pick up the shade since the stripes are pretty narrow and the lines separating them are quite thin. I’d try to focus on 2 adjacent shades instead to adjust for a lighter (left) or darker (right) pink.

My preference, though, is to swirl all three together for a nice corally pink flush. With light application, the pink looks so natural on me with a subtle illuminating glow of the shimmery powder. If I go a little heavier, the pink becomes a soft shade of fuchsia that really adds a nice pop of color on my cheeks that looks absolutely flattering. The luminous sheen does not look frosty or glittery at all and I don’t find it to accentuate any pores or make my skin look oily, either.

Besides the excellent color payoff, the pigmentation is extra long-lasting, too! It literally lasts from morning well into the evening on me with a slight fading at the end of the night. It is impressive and equally unexpected considering baked blushes usually do not last long in general.

Overall, if you are looking for a sweet, naturally-looking flush from a baked blush, I think you’d love Something About Berry. The cute packaging also doesn’t hurt. ;) You also get plenty of the amount of product in this little pan and with such intense color payoff that you only require just a touch of a brush per application, one pan will really last a long time. The other new shade in the collection that I didn’t pick up is Peach Beach which I think is a little too light for me but you never know, I have a tendency to buy unnecessary things based on packaging, so it would not be a surprise if I were to go pick that up as well!

Comparison to Candy Glow

Candy Glow (a trio of soft rose, coral, and peach) is a much much lighter shade of pink in comparison. It takes some building up to get the colors to show up on my skin tone but the good thing is it’s hard to overdo and you don’t need to be too careful while applying. I think if you have paler complexion, both would look amazing on you, but if you are medium or dark, Candy Glow may look to be more of a highlighter than an actual blush and your best bet would be to go with Something About Berry instead.

Gurrrl, you are cuter than cupcakes! I love this on you. I also have to say the swatch on the white with the blush container in the background is just utter gorgeousness. You should be working for a magazine. I own Candy Glow and love it! Fell in love with the packaging first and the blush itself is great, so it’s a winner! I have been obsessing over the Chocolate Bar palette, too! I hope to see it under the tree! :)

okay, I’m going to comment so you don’t think i’m not a true (and FIRST) fan!
I actually like the first one better. This one is a bit darker than my liking. I like light and bright blushes…but still, good job toofaced!

No worries, I know you are the biggest fan of my blog! ;)

Then I think you might like Peach Beach since the pigmentation seems to be of the same intensity as Candy Glow. :)

Last Friday when these were 50% off at Ulta, I ordered all 3 shades, was able to use my Ultamate Rewards for $6 off, AND the website let me use my 20% off coupon code, even though it should have only been 10% since TF is a prestige brand and the coupon wasn’t supposed to be valid on Beauty Steals. I feel like I hit the jackpot! I can’t wait to try these blushes.

Oh wow, that’s like THE deal of the century, Laura! Good job!! :D I’m surprised you were able to use the coupon with Too Faced!

I still haven’t used my 20% off coupon yet. I don’t know what to buy. I want way too many things!!!!
