My favorites this month are mostly skincare products as I've been paying more attention to what I put on my face. All the items featured in this post have been tried-and-true to work on my sensitive, acne-prone skin without causing irritation. I hope you enjoy the post and choose to share your experience with me if you have used any one of them.
Anessa Perfect and Essence UV Sunscreen Aqua Booster SPF50+ PA++++
Dare I say sunscreen is the most essential daytime skincare item to help keep our skin at its healthiest condition? I wish I had known this in my teen years where I liked to recklessly expose myself to the sun without any protection. I have used so many sunscreens from so many different brands for the past decade and I can now say that I prefer Asian sunscreens much better. They have perfected the formula just right so that you get full protection without the white cast and oiliness that are usually associated with most western sunscreens.
Anessa Perfect and Essence UV Sunscreen Aqua Booster SPF50+ PA++++ shown above are my most used sunscreens this month. They both offer full protection against UVA and UVB with SPF50 and PA++++ (that's four pluses!). Their liquidy-milky texture instantly absorbs into the skin leaving nothing but a beautiful mattified finish that doubles as a smoothing face primer. There's not one bit of white cast or stickiness afterwards.
There is very little difference between the two formulas and I'm pretty certain you'll enjoy either one. The Perfect (gold) is slightly thicker and controls oil better so my face is mattified longer. The Essence (silver) is more liquidy and moisturizing (hence the “aqua” name) but I notice that while it keeps my face matte initially, the oil control isn't as great as the Perfect one. Both have Zinc Oxide, Octinoxate, Octocrylene, Uvinul A Plus, and Tinosorb S as active ingredients but the Essence one has Parsol SLX as an additional filter. Both stay on through water and sweat perfect for hot days that are coming up. I don't find them to be clogging as long as I clean them off properly at the end of the day.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter
Can't get enough of this illuminating primer! Becca never disappoints when it comes to glow-enhancing products. Backlight Priming Filter is not your typical shimmer-in-your-face kind of primer but more of an “adult”, subtly radiant-boosting kind that becomes one with your skin for a believable lit-from-within look. I usually apply it after sunscreen and follow with loose powder on a good skin day. If I'm going to use a complexion base then I like to mix it in with the primer then apply at once to retain the luminous look. The scent is lovely, the texture is wonderful, and the bottle seems to last forever since there's only a small dip in my bottle after having used it religiously for months. I have a full review on this right here.
Fresh Sugar Sport Treatment Sunscreen SPF 30 and Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy
Bite Beauty Agave Lip Masks (review) and Fresh Lip Treatments (review: original, Advanced Therapy and Rosé, Tulip, Nude, Ruby) remain my trusted products over the years to keep my lip condition in top form. The Sport Treatment Sunscreen SPF 30 is my new addition. It can be used on the lips, face, as well as eye area but I mainly use it on the lips to protect them against UV rays. It is more “solid” texture-wise compared to the Lip Treatment counterpart and also leaves a matte finish rather than shiny. I like to dab it over my lips using my finger to help warm up the formula. Active ingredients are Avobenzone, Octinoxate, and Octisalate.
As for the Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy, it's much more waxy and slippery in texture than the regular Lip Treatment but surprisingly lasts well into the night till morning. I like to think of the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask as my heavy-duty lip balm to restore moisture ASAP and the Fresh Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy as my everyday (night) treatment.
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil
I've been using Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm (review) for over 3 years now and refused to use anything else because it just works. Not to mention super fun to use! Who wouldn't like a face massage every night after a long day of work. :) However, earlier last month I for some reason decided to try their “oil” version for the first time. While it doesn't provide the same satisfying massaging effect, it actually is quicker to use as you don't need to warm up the balm. It is just as effective at removing makeup including long-lasting and waterproof formula. It thoroughly gets rid of makeup without stripping moisture from the skin. I didn't experience any oiliness after use but I always do a second cleanse with my regular cleanser to make sure I get every bit of makeup residue off. Shown in the picture above is my mini bottle that I finished a while ago. I have since bought the full size!
Chanel Le Vernis Nail Gloss in 530 Rouge Radical
I rarely wear nail polish because my line of work requires me to wash my hands about a million times a day. My nail polish stash is very, very minimal I shouldn't be allowed to be a beauty blogger! But last Fall, upon seeing this beautiful, bright glossy red nail polish that is Chanel Le Vernis Nail Gloss in 530 Rouge Radical (limited edition), I couldn't help myself. I knew I had to have it. And it's been the only nail polish I've been wearing since. I do get compliments all the time on the color online and offline. I wore it on my Instagram picture if you'd like to see how it looks on. It has a clear, glossy texture in the bottle that actually becomes opaque once set. Two coats are enough to give me a beautiful bright and opaque red on my nails that lasts for weeks! I'm very, very happy with my purchase and wish I had bought a backup!
I hope you enjoyed my picks! Let me know if you have used any of these products. What are your favorite items this month?
