Bag content

  • Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet – My favorite piece from this bag! Urban Decay has recently released this pencil along with a cream eyeliner, eye pen, and eyeliner. While I'm not a big fan of the new eye pen formula, I have to say I quite like Black Velvet! It is super matte and the black is not really jet black like Perversion. Black Velvet is noticeably warmer and a little less stark. I have a feeling I will use it up quickly and will be buying a full size soon!
  • Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Apple Pink – Lip Balm you say? Not really! It feels a lot more like a lipstick to me! The color translates to coral on my lips and it's absolutely gorgeous. It even comes with a brush applicator! However, I'm not a big fan of the drying matte formula. It might sound funny to say, but you do need another lip balm underneath and over this lip balm to keep lips moisturized! :)
  • City Color White Gold Shadow & Highlight Mousse – Lovely texture! The shimmer is so fine and doesn't feel gritty at all going on the skin. The beautiful white gold (less white, more gold) color looks great as a highlighter and a shimmery wash over a shadow. I wouldn't use it as a base, though, since the formula creases a little bit. Unless you apply it over a primer, which will help extend its longevity, too.
  • Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant – I'm really surprised to receive this as it is a very expensive product! I love the smell of it and if you follow the instruction (massage onto skin 1-2 minutes, then rinse and pat dry), you will notice a difference after first use! My skin feels soft, supple, and squeaky clean! I can't wait to see if it will help fade my acne scars over time. It's such a small tube so I hope I'll be able to see some good results before I run out!
  • Sexy Hair Root Pump Volumizing Spray MousseNot another hair spray, please! I swear, my bathroom drawer is filled with Sexy Hair hair sprays! You name the formula, I have it! I rarely ever use any hair spray because they tend to cause breakouts and it's just not worth it. This one will probably be sitting in my drawer and forgotten just like the rest of them. :(

I wish I would have received either Benefit Lollitint or Cover FX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment or even the Coastal Scents Medium Shadow Brush (I'm a brush fanatic!) instead of the hair spray. I've been slowly getting back into using a primer underneath my foundation again and it would have been nice to receive the Cover FX primer. Oh well, for $10, I guess you really can't ask for much!

Black Velvet and the lip balm looks really good!! Great bag this month :-)

  • Sunny says:

Whoaa Black Velvet! The tinted lip balm is basically as pigmented as a lipstick! The shade is quite darling as well!

  • Sylirael says:

Seriously, if I slipped into some parallel universe where Ipsy shipped to NZ, and I got a bag with the UD pencil and the Lollitint in it, it could literally have, like, pieces of paper with ‘LOL!’ on them making up the rest of the bag and I would take it happily.

The products you get in those bags are sometimes ridiculously good! (Which is what keeps people subscribed, I gues ;-))

    • Jaa says:

I think they are starting to ship internationally now, no? Or was it just em products? Do you have similar services (beauty subscription boxes) in NZ?

I already have the Lollitint but I’d rather get another instead of a hair spray that I will never use, lol.

Yeah, Black Velvet and Lollitint together would be awesome. But Cover FX is nice, too! Have you tried anything from the brand? I tried one of their primers long time ago and I loved it. :)

  • Sylirael says:

I haven’t tried any Cover FX, no – not sure if I’ve ever seen it here, LOL! They might ship here now, but the expense of shipping from the US these days is probably enough to make the bag not really worth it, sadly :-(

    • Jaa says:

You are probably right. I think Ipsy already charges a small fee shipping to Canada. Can’t imagine what it would be to NZ!!

  • Chris says:

City Gold White Gold shadow looks quite nice! I’ve heard good things about Ipsy. Right now I have a monthly subscription with Eco Emi.

    • Jaa says:

Just checked out Eco Emi. Great box for people who love eco friendly products! And only $15 a month — not bad at all! :D

  • Erin says:

I like the color of the lip product and the exfoliator sounds promising!

  • Kristina says:

Hello, just letting you know I used your swatch pic for my Glam bag review, we got exactly the same bags! I put your site in the video and I’m going to link it in my description box, I really hope you don’t mind!

  • Kristina says:

I haven’t posted the video yet so let me know if I can use the picture please, if not I can always edit it out, thanks!

    • Jaa says:

      Hey Kristina!

As long as the link back to my site is intact, please feel free to use my photos! I don’t mind at all! :)

Do you mind sharing the URL to your video once it’s published? :D

  • Kristina says:

Thanks for your permission, my video is nothing special since I’m just starting out but I still greatly appreciate it. The link to your blog works perfectly and the link to my video is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSrITxxAYlk&feature=youtu.be Thanks again Jaa!

  • Amanda says:

I used to get Ipsy, but I cancelled it because I found that a lot of the bags I would be interested in one thing I got, but that was it. I accumulated a lot of samples I wasn’t interested it. But this bag looks pretty good!

    • Jaa says:

You are so right, Amanda. They put one interesting thing in the bag to keep you subscribed (my guess), the rest of the items most of the time I don’t even care for and would not even take it if it was given to me for free (like the hairspray, because I don’t use hairspray! Haha!)

  • Josie says:

I love ipsy! It is so much fun to try out 4-5 different high end makeup products every month in a cute new makeup bag, for only $10. This month I received Benefit lollitint, Cailyn lip balm, Urban Decay eyeliner, City Color eyeshadow, and KISS lashes! You can become a part of the ipsy community here [link removed]

    • Jaa says:

That’s nice that you received both UD eyeliner AND Benefit Lollitint! Your bag sounds a whole lot better than mine. :(
