ABOUT MAKEUP MINI SERIES
Makeup Minis is where I feature deluxe samples I received with my online and/or in-store purchases. I'll give you a short description of the product, my initial impression and whether I plan to purchase a full-sized version. I am only listing 3 items per volume to keep the post short and fun! :)

Omorovicza Queen Of Hungary Mist

Omorovicza
Queen Of Hungary Mist

I was stoked to learn that Sephora was giving out a giant sample bottle of this ultra expensive face mist! Right off the bat, it smells heavenly. I only spritz once each time (for fear of finishing it too soon) and luckily that's enough to cover my entire face. It feels refreshing and incredibly hydrating on the skin. This would be a great product to use in the upcoming winter months!

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream

La Mer
The Moisturizing Soft Cream

Another sample that I use sparingly due to its expensive price tag! This one is heavily fragranced and I'm not sure I like the scent. But the texture of the cream is to-die-for! It is ridiculously smooth, spreads easily, and absorbs quickly without leaving any oily/greasy feeling behind. My face always feels so soft and hydrated afterwards!

LORAC Porefection Mattifying Face Primer

LORAC
Porefection Mattifying Face Primer

If you love Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, you'll love this one! It has the same super silicone-y texture that glides on the skin and leaves a soft and smooth finish. It covers pores really well but I don't find it necessarily great at keeping my face matte throughout the day. It does make my foundation go on much smoother, though!

  • Aaah La Mer, pure luxury… <3 And yay, another primer! Too bad it doesn't actually do much mattifying though.

    • Jaa says:

Did you know the biggest size of the La Mer cream is $2000? OMG!

      • Sylirael says:

Bahahahahaah! :-D ROFL, LMAO, ROFLMAOWTFBBQ, etc.

We have a La Mer counter here. I should go ask what the price of the big one is in NZ, just to make everyone’s guts turn inside out, LOL!

Speaking of crazy expensive creams that we’d like to own, Chanel makes an amazing one that I got a little sample of once. It’s incredible, but the normal jar of it costs like $400 here, ROFL ^_^

This is the thing – even if I had (easily) $400 in expendable income, I’d probably end up spending it on a jewelled tutu or travel or something first! :-D

        • Jaa says:

Same here…. I think I’d rather spend $2000 on a plane trip to NZ. Hey, I’ll get to see you for the first time. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?? :D :D :D

      • … I am speechless.

  • Sunny says:

Hey Jaa, I’ve tried that Omorovicza mist. It’s very pleasant to use, but it didn’t change my mind about facial mists (they don’t seem to really do much). I still haven’t tried ANYTHING from La Mer, not even a sample packet of anything! I am curious, but at the same time I wonder if I should save them for later, you know, when I REALLY need anti-aging products LOL

    • Jaa says:

Yeah the hydration lasts only a few minutes! But I think they are made to “rehydrate” your skin after cleaning so that your moisturizer can do its job better (it needs moisture to mosturize). La Mer is a brand I’d love to get into, too, but I’ve been hesitating for the very same reason as you. LOL.

  • Lena L says:

Omorovicza is certainly a brand I would love to try in the future. I usually use affordable Japanese brand toners with hyaluronic acid it seems to take care of both cleansing and initial moisturization.
As to those “super silicone-y” makeup bases, I am a big fan. Sometimes it feels like my makeup just slides off with it, you know? ;)

    • Jaa says:

Hey Lena! That’s one ingredient I look for in my skincare products, too! :D I can’t do too much with the silicone-heavy products. They tend to clog my pores and give me breakouts. :-(

  • La Mer sounds ahhMAZING to me. I will for sure check this out. xx

  • Erin says:

I find that La Mer’s original and eye balm are too waxy. That soft cream sounds better!

  • Carolyn says:

I haven’t tried La Mer before — did you think it’s worth the price tag, Jaa?

    • Jaa says:

I honestly have no idea, Carolyn. I’ve been using this sample jar sparingly for fear of finishing it too soon, lol. I can’t vouch for the benefits but I know my face feels really soft and moisturized after I use it. :D

  • Liz says:

I used up a small sample jar of La Mer back when I had really oily skin and was afraid it’d clog up my face because the texture is so thick. But it just made my face so soft and healthy looking, and the jar lasted for months because you need so little at a time. I’d definitely splurge on a reg size some day. :)

    • Jaa says:

This tiny little jar lasted you months?? You must use very little each time? I think it will probably last me a few weeks at most with daily use. -_-

  • Krithi says:

Omorovicza mist sounds good for winter

  • I love your makeup minis series, Jaa! Such a great idea!
Years ago, I caved and bought the La Mer cream. I used it for months and started fretting because it was nicely hydrating but it wasn’t necessarily doing anything magical outside of moisturizing my skin. Luckily they offer a money back guarantee, no questions asked, and I was able to return it. I felt bad about that too, but in the end, I just felt like it wasn’t worth the high price tag when I have drugstore moisturizers that perform the same function at a fraction of the price. I know one has to use skincare for a long time before they see results, but several months should be long enough, right?!
You should try a non-silicone primer and see if you like it. There aren’t many, but Too Faced Hangover Rx is and I’ve been dying to purchase it! Oily skin and silicone do not seem to get along! I get insanely oily if I use a silicone primer. If I get the Hangover Rx primer, I will definitely let you know if it’s gold for oily gals! :)
    Much love, girl! XOXO & 555 ;)

    • Jaa says:

Totally agree with you, Kristen! I also have a moisturizer that I like and think works equally well for me with a much cheaper price point, so I’m probably not going to splurge on this one for now.

I want to try that TF Hangover RX primer! I swatched it at Ulta and loved the consistency! Please keep me posted if and when you publish your review!
