As promised in my Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Brightening Eye Base post, here's a review of another super cute product from the brand that I've been testing — the Panda's Dream So Cool Eye Stick! I admit, I bought this novelty product purely for the adorable packaging but it wouldn't hurt if it does what it claims to do also. Depuffing, refreshing, hydrating, improving the appearance of fine lines, this little stick claims to do it all. I've put it to the test and here's what I think!
Tony Moly Panda's Dream So Cool Eye Stick is basically an eye serum that comes in a portable stick form. The product has a plastic lid covering the top to prevent it from drying. The outside cap is shaped in the most adorable panda face with protruded ears and cute little panda hands holding some bamboo leaves!
The stick appears translucent blue in the tube but applies clear on the skin. It leaves a very subtle shine that disappears as soon as the product sinks into the skin. It only takes seconds to fully absorb because the texture is extremely light but you can speed up the absorption process by lightly patting it into the skin. You don't ever have to worry about a sticky/greasy feel or glossy finish associated with the product because there's none. I detect a very faint, fresh floral scent but it vanishes the moment you finish with the application. The slick formula glides on smoothly over the skin without tugging or skipping so I find it very gentle to use under the delicate eye area.
As a side note, mine came broken as seen below! The glue-like product happened to stick strongly to the plastic lid inside so when I tried to open the lid, it pulled up the whole stick with it! I guess you can imagine the horror on my face! T_T
Luckily I was able to stick it back into its base! And thankfully the twisting mechanism still works meaning I can still wind up and down the product without problem! So when you first open yours, should you decide to buy it, try to be very gentle! :)
- Niacinamide to promote anti-aging benefits and collagen production
- Adenosine to smooth the appearance of fine lines
- Bamboo Extracts to nourish the skin
- Sea Water to hydrate and cools the skin
The product obviously aims at reducing fine lines, depuffing, and hydrating the skin while providing a cooling sensation!
I honestly didn't expect any anti-aging miracles to happen here but what I did expect was the cooling sensation! I work a lot in front of a computer so it would be nice to have something cooling handy to perk up my tired eyes once in a while. However, I was sorely let down because this product barely provides any cooling effect! When the stick is touching the skin, I maybe feel a hint of coolness but once it's off the skin, there's no lasting cooling sensation left behind whatsoever. :(
As for depuffing and smoothing fine lines, I honestly haven't seen any drastic changes so far. It may help a little but the results are not really noticeable to me. As I said before, I didn't expect it to happen so I can't say I am disappointed with it.
It does really well in terms of moisturizing the skin, though! My under eye area always feels refreshed and immensely hydrated after the application. And the effect lasts for a while. I think those who suffer dry under eye skin will really appreciate this benefit!
Due to its moisturizing texture and ability to blend and absorb seamlessly into the skin, I sometimes use it to redistribute my concealer during the day to lessen the dry look and to add a bit of moisture back to the skin. It works really great this way and does not seem to smear my mascara or eyeliner as far as I can tell! :)
Overall, I think Tony Moly Panda's Dream So Cool Eye Stick is a nice little product to have around to quickly add moisture to the under eye area. It's small, portable, and will fit any makeup bag or drawer. I have it sitting next to my computer and I reach for it quite often, not for the cooling effect unfortunately, but for immediate hydration whenever my eyes need it. It doesn't replace an actual eye cream/serum in my opinion but it sure is cuter and much easier to use! The product seems to be constantly out of stock on Sephora but you can still find it at other retailers (links down below)! :)
