Review & Usage
Bite Lush Lip Wipes are makeup wipes specifically designed just for lips. They are supposedly a 3-in-1 product: first they remove the color (“swipe”), then replenish (“plump”), and lastly mattify your lips (“prep”). I have the 10-pack size to show you today. The wipes are individually wrapped and come in a zippered transparent plastic pouch that is big enough to fit a few extra lip products inside. The little round Bite mirror is also included in the kit for convenient lip color removal and/or (re)application.
As with all Bite products, the Lush Lip Wipes are gluten-free, made with natural, food-grade ingredients (safe for ingestion), and contain antioxidant Resveratrol with the addition of melon fruit extract for hydration.
The wipes are well-saturated out of the wrap. For comparison, they have the same feel as those pre-moistened lens cleaning wipes for eyeglasses except they don't dry as quickly. I detected a mild scent of something sweet and slightly fruity (perhaps melon?). It's not a pleasant smell for me unfortunately but at least it dissipates quickly within seconds and doesn't leave a bad taste on the lips. The wipes seem to be made of durable paper that doesn't rip or tear easily even when used with light force. There are small little dots imprinted throughout the surface to aid the removal of lip color but you will not feel them on the lips (they feel flat and smooth on mostly).
As for the burning question: are they effective? Yes, through and through. With one gentle swipe, the lip color is instantly removed. I tried it with the Benefit Benetint, Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick, and Stila Beso Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick which are notorious for their stubborn, hard-to-remove stains and the Bite wipes effectively and effortlessly take them all off in a swift. The best part is they don't strip my lips and leave them feeling dry or raw at all. And for this reason, they perform much better than MAC Makeup Remover Wipes in my opinion. For me, the MAC ones are really great for removing face makeup but whenever I use them to remove lip colors, they always dry out my lips to the point that I have to quickly apply a thick lip balm afterwards. With the Bite wipes, I did not experience any drying or irritation at all and I don't feel the need to recondition my lips afterwards. They in fact do leave my lips feeling soothed, refreshed, clean, mattified, and ready for the next lip color. It can feel slightly sticky, however, if you do not put any lip color on after and simply leave your lips bare.
Price-wise, they are not the most economical in my opinion. As great as they are, I just can't afford to use them on a regular basis. And with their small size, sometimes I feel that I need more than one wipe to completely remove all traces of the lip color. Ten wipes for $12, that's a little steep for me, although they are considerably cheaper if you buy a 30-pack size. Having said that, I can still see myself stashing one or two in my makeup purse for emergencies/on-the-go purposes or for when I know I'll need to change up my lip color later on in the day. They are just so gentle yet so effective, and I wish so badly that they were cheaper so that I could use them during my lip swatch session. Oh well! We always have to pay more for convenience right?
