Finally a Cheek & Lip stain from Benefit that shows up and shows up pretty on my medium skin! When I blindly purchased it online the first day it launched I didn't really have high hopes for it but I am so glad it turns out to be such a pretty color and that it performs beyond my expectation. The staining power is out-of-the-world crazy and I'll tell you more about it in a little bit! :)
As with all my reviews, we need to start with the packaging! You can always count on Benefit for the cutest and girliest packaging for all their products! This one, too, did not disappoint. The new Lollitint comes in a round bottle in purplish pink metallic color and has a lollipop swirl design on it with the word Lollitint printed in white. The screw cap is plain white and on the inside has a brush applicator that is fairly easy to use and picks up the product really well. I'm giving the packaging design a 10 as it is super adorable! I also noticed a subtle scent that reminds me of rose water – very refreshing. :)
Benefit describes Lollitint as a “candy-orchid” tint. In person it looks magenta pink with a strong purple undertone. It's a really pretty color. I do like their Posietint but I find its pink color a little too pale and doesn't really show up well on my skin. Benetint is a little bit too red for my taste. Chachatint is gorgeous but that's for the day when you want a pop of “orange” color instead of pink. Lollitint is by far my favorite tint from Benefit and I can see myself wearing it a lot more often than the rest of them.
The formula is creamy and a little thick, much like Chachatint and isn't watery and runny like Benetint. I prefer the thicker consistency since it is easier to control. For a pop of flirty flush, I like to apply just a dab on the apple of my cheek using my ring finger and then blend it out. I find that a small blush brush works well, too, but make sure it's a synthetic brush and not a natural hair brush. Use a speedy hand and blend out quickly as the tint dries down fast. When applied on my medium skin, Lollitint turns into this gorgeous berry hue that compliments my skin tone very nicely. It's a total instant pick-me-up if you wanna put it that way. I also enjoy the finish that it leaves – a matte that doesn't feel heavy or greasy at all.
Lollitint also has amazing color payoff and staining power! It is insanely pigmented and it is advisable to dab just a little bit on the skin to start with and then add a little more as you go to achieve the desired intensity. I am truly impressed with the staining power – the color literally stays on ALL DAY and well into the night until you remove it. There is no need to re-apply, in fact, I don't think you even need to check in the mirror even. When I did a swatch on my arm, the color stayed on for almost 3 days (I didn't try to remove it with oil as I wanted to see how long it's going to stain for). To remove the stain, you absolutely need an oil-based remover. Generic makeup wipes will not cut it.
When used on the lips, it gets a little tricky. First of all, as with most tints, you need to have your lips well-prepped before application since they tend to highlight dry patches. I exfoliate, apply a thin layer of lip balm, blot the excess oil, and then apply the tint. I like to use a lip brush as it gives me a better control when getting into the corners and the Cupid's Bow. Fingers just get too messy too easily. I tried applying the tint alone without topping with a lip balm or lip gloss and unfortunately, I just couldn't stand the drying feeling. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the cold weather as my lips seem to be a lot drier now than in Summer so, for the Lollitint, I always top with a lip balm or lip gloss to keep my lips hydrated throughout the day. On my pigmented lips, the tint turns into a warm shade of pink-berry pop that is super pigmented. I find the staining power on the lips is just as crazy as on the cheeks! It stays on long and strong even through meals and a lot of water.
I think Lollitint is the best addition so far to the Benefit Cheek & Lip Stain line. It's so pigmented, easy to use, and it stays on like no one's business and yes, I'm going to say it again for the 35986745th time that I absolutely adore the color! I think it's a perfect, wearable color for medium skin tones. I'm not sure how it would turn out on pale skin, though. The purple tone of the tint may show up better, perhaps?
All in all, I am completely happy with my purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lollitint to anyone! :)
