I normally don't wear a lot of sparkle on my eyes but as the Holiday season is nearing, I've been feeling a little more festive! Thanks to this little tube of gold glitter from Too Faced, now I can add that extra oomph to my eyes with little to no effort! :)
Too Faced Glitter Glaze is part of the Fall 2013 collection which I'm not quite sure what would be the reasoning behind it as one would think anything glitter, gold glitter in particular, would be a little more fitting to use during the Holiday season. Whatever the reason be, I'm just glad they released it because this thing is super fun to use and can be worn in so many ways!
There are 2 shades available: Silver Spark – bright metallic silver white and Goldie Rocks – bright metallic gold. I picked up Goldie Rocks since I didn't have any gold glitter in my collection yet. It is basically ultra-fine gold glitter packed together in a liquid suspension form. It comes in a clear tube similar to a lip gloss tube and with the same type of slanted-tip, doe-foot applicator. Easy to use, mess-free and very convenient. I'm also loving the gold and black theme here. :)
Glitter Glaze is a love at first swipe! I swatched it on my arm at Sephora and I was completely amazed with the texture. I have never seen anything like it before. It has this super thin and silky, almost mousse-like formula that glides on like a dream and dries down instantly upon contact to a powdery finish. It feels very smooth on the eyes – no gritty feeling here – and you wouldn't believe how sparkly this thing is! It reflects light like crazy even with just a small tiny dab on the lid!
You can wear it solo on its own on bare lids for a sheer wash of sparkly shimmer or you can layer it on top of your eyeshadow for a more dazzling effect. It looks pretty either way but I find that applying sheer on bare lids can sometimes look a little patchy and uneven, unless you build up the opacity a little bit. The provided doe-foot applicator does get the job done but for me, I like to dab the product on the back of my hand first, then I use a small flat blush such as a concealer brush to transfer the glitter to my eye. This way I feel that I have a bit more control. When I tried applying with my finger, the glitter seemed to get everywhere on my eye, maybe my finger is too big! :) So I'd try to use a brush for this product. I'd recommend this method especially if you are layering it on top of dark eyeshadows so you won't transfer the color back to the tube. I do this all the time with my lip gloss application, too.
Besides top of the lids, you can apply this little tube of fun on other areas as well such as the inner corner, center of the lids, over an eyeliner, the top of brow bones/cheekbones, or even on the lips! It is a very handy product indeed so be creative with it and experiment! The good part is there is no fallout anywhere in sight! For some reason, the glitter stays on the skin like glue and would not come off on its own unless you use a makeup remover. So, another thumbs up for the staying power!
Glitter Glaze is a limited edition product and good news, it is on sale (almost 25% off) right now at Sephora! It is such a pretty product that I think you'll fall in love with, too. I only wish Too Faced would make this permanent and bring out more colors, maybe something along the line of taupe-purple, now that one I think would really be pretty!
