Skincare products are hard to review because results are subjective. Even with the same skin texture and concerns, results may still vary from one person to another. So my review of the famous Lancôme Visionnaire you are about to read is purely based on my own skin.
The serum comes in a gradient sapphire blue glass bottle. It's one classy and stunning bottle if I might add. The pump dispenser is perfect for sanitary purposes and is very convenient to control the amount of product that comes out. The bottle is not transparent – probably designed to shield the goodness inside from light.
I have been using this serum for more than a year now and currently I'm on my 4th bottle. I always purchase a 1 oz size and I use 2 pumps once a day in the a.m. So one bottle will last you roughly 3-4 months if you are using the same amount I am.
The serum is an off-white, slightly pinkish, pearly texture with a light floral scent that does not linger and disappears within a few minutes of application. The formula is extremely lightweight and gets absorbed instantly (even when you use in excess), leaving your skin soft, radiant and supple. I'd say the finish is sort of silky matte without any traces of greasy residues.
The way I use this serum is I start with a clean, toned face. Apply 2 pumps to cover my entire face, pat gently onto the skin, wait a minute or two, then follow with a moisturizer and sunscreen of SPF 50 PA+++. Since the consistency of the serum is very thin, you must supplement with a moisturizer to add hydration to the skin. In fact, for any serums to work well, a following hydrator is mandatory even if you have the oiliest skin type.
Although it contains a fair amount of silicones, I've never broken out from it. It is marketed as an advanced skin corrector and was found to correct wrinkles, pores, and unevenness in a 4-week clinical study. Well, I'll be honest – I didn't see any improvements in the first month of use. But I'd say I was starting to see its effect when I almost finished the first bottle (10-12 weeks into it). My skin was definitely evened out and my red acne scars were noticeably lightened, not completely diminished, but lightened nonetheless. I have not seen any changes in my pore size, however, which is a huge let down. But then again, pores are not something you can easily correct. It takes regular exfoliation and may be some sort of medical treatment to minimize them. So if you wanted to try this product because of its pore shrinkage claim, this one may not be for you.
In terms of wrinkles, well, I didn't have too many to begin with. So as much as I wanted to tell you how it works on those, I'm afraid my opinion is inadequate. But from a lot of reviews I found from people in their 40s+, the majority of them experienced a huge improvement. That's good to know because I'd always love to be on the preventative side.
Also worth mentioning is the alcohol content (4th ingredient) which may be too drying for Winter or if you have dry skin. Definitely moisturize well if you plan to incorporate this into your routine.
Would I continue using this product? Definitely yes. It is light, smells lovely, and does not leave any oiliness on my skin. And with continued use, I feel that my overall complexion is smoother and even out. The downside is the hefty price tag, but I recommend stocking up on expensive skincare during sale events (and even better if you combine it with cash back reward programs).
