“Industrial strength” and “light & creamy” are keywords here. The two statements don't normally go together in normal circumstances but they are exactly the best words to describe this concealer!
Specifically formulated to conceal hyperpigmentation, scars, discoloration, and even tattoos – this Full Cover concealer from Make Up For Ever is guaranteed to hide any signs of imperfection you may have. The liquid concealer is packaged in an oh-so-practical-and-convenient squeeze tube with a clear body and black screw cap. The tiny opening ensures the exact amount – large or small – to be dispensed without creating waste. I tend to like products that come in squeeze tubes like this as it is more hygienic than those that come in pots or sticks. I got matched to #7 Sand that blends seamlessly right in with my NC30 skin tone. The concealer is waterproof, non-comedogenic, oil-free, fragrance-free but is silicone-based. It also contains Serma Sensitive – an anti-inflammatory agent, and Allantoin – an active ingredient with healing and regenerative properties – well, sounds like my kind of concealer to cover blemishes!
As I mentioned, this is an industrial strength concealer, meaning it is full coverage and is highly pigmented. It also means little goes a really, really long way as you only need the smallest dot per application. The texture is a little thick but feels light on the skin. It is easy to apply and spreads well but it dries down rather quickly so you must blend fast. It's better to apply it to your face in sections if you have more than one problem areas. The creamy formula sets to a matte, almost powdery finish once dry and the waterproof property ensures that the concealer stays budge-free throughout the day.
For a natural, skin-like finish, I like to warm up the product between my fingers first, then gently dab on the area I want to conceal (usually blemishes and acne scars) then I “tap” the product lightly onto the skin to blend. If hard edges are still visible, I usually will follow with a small concealer brush or small fluffy blending brush to completely blend it in. With the right application, I don't find it to be cakey or heavy at all. It actually feels really light and I didn't experience any dryness either, even after 10+ hours of wear time.
As for brightening up dark circles (this concealer was not mainly developed to cover under eye circles but I tried it anyway), I find it to be a little drying on the skin under eyes. It is also a little harder to blend as the product tends to dry down so fast. Apply sparingly on well-hydrated skin, or over a good eye cream seems to help with the blending and reduces creasing but the coverage still feels very dry soon after so this is definitely not a concealer I would use for under eyes. I haven't tried covering up tattoos with this, well, since I don't have any but I suspect it is more than capable to, maybe with a few layers on and with foundation powder in between.
I have read reviews where people reported that it does tend to oxidize later in the day but I didn't find it to be true on my skin. The area where I apply it always looks just exactly the way it does when I first put it on. If you are unsure, definitely get a sample of the darker and lighter shades too and see how it adjusts to your skin tone.
If you are still on a hunt for that perfect concealer with excellent coverage and staying power, all while being light and natural-looking, I think you should give this one a try. It's definitely one of the concealers I know I can trust and feel confident that it will not wear off on me especially on days where my face is exploded with pimples! It's a little bit of an investment but you do get a lot of product in a tube that will last you ages. All in all, this concealer receives the highest recommendation from me. :)
