Makeup Minis Vol.17

Makeup Minis is where I feature deluxe samples I received with my online and/or in-store purchases. I'll give you a short description of the product, my initial impression and whether I plan to purchase a full-sized version. I am only listing 3 items per volume to keep the post short and fun! :)

Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer

That Gal Brightening Face Primer

Benefit always makes the cutest packaging! ^_^ This primer smells heavenly! Almost like blueberry yogurt! The texture also feels like yogurt! Pinkish, creamy, and so smooth. I have to use this one very sparingly, though, because too much and it can look ashy on my yellow-toned skin. It dries fast and leaves my skin smooth with a nice and natural-looking glow. Works great as a spot highlighter, too!

Lancôme Visionnaire [LR 2412 4%] Advanced Skin Corrector

Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector

I finished my jumbo-size bottle a while ago and have not repurchased yet simply because I have so many other face serums to test! Visionnaire has a nice and slightly silicone-y feel to it so it smooths over the skin really well. It absorbs instantly so you can follow with your moisturizer right away. The smell is nice. It doesn't do much in terms of pores and wrinkles but scars seem to fade faster.

NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Yellow Gold Pearl

Ultra Pearl Mania in Yellow Gold Pearl

I am blown away by the quality of this loose pigment! For the price, Yellow Gold Pearl delivers much more than I expected! The color is true to its name — very true yellow gold and boy, is it bright! The powder is ultra fine and just so soft. It adheres to the skin nicely (over primer base) and lasts a long time. The packaging is a little pain to use since you have to pour the content out and that can get quite messy.

  • I might have tried the Benefit highlighter, but I don’t remember much about it! While I have grown to love cream blushes, I firmly stick to powder highlighters ;)

  • Lancome skincare doesn’t do much for me. I don’t use highlighters much at all, but I bought some liquid highlighters from Becca. I don’t know why! I hardly use those shimmering skin perfectors, and I think I should let them go >_< I have some powder highlighters and those, I can keep because they don't go bad as quick :-P

    • True! I hate it when stuff gets separated in the bottle if I don’t use it for a long time. Eww. Haha. Which reminds me, I have to throw out a bunch of MAC Lipglasses pretty soon…

  • oh I’m a HUGE NYX fan and I haven’t seen these loose powders yet, so I need to go check them out!! What a great holiday eye look that would make and the fact it has great staying power is huge for me!!

    • I just realized that this is a full-size container. LOL. So cute and tiny but I’m sure will still last a long time. I think these came out for a while now and they are permanent so you probably don’t need to rush out the door to get it right away. :D The staying power is great! :)

  • I got some Visionnaire samples as part of a general Lancome sample haul at one point, and I used it for a few months. I had a surge of fellow feeling when I read your mini review, because I thought exactly the same! Smooth and siliconey, smells nice, doesn’t do anything drastic, LOL! I don’t have any scars for it to fade (that are super visible to me anyway), so I didn’t get that benefit, LOL! The only thing I really liked from all my Lancome samples (that I would actually purchase if I could afford it) were the Genifique day moisturiser and night cream. They were really nice and hydrating, especially the night cream. Having said that, the rosehip stuff I use now does the same job, so… :-P

    • And for much cheaper, too, right? ;D I have tried the Genifique serum for almost a half year and I honestly didn’t see any improvement on my skin at all. :(
