Nope, I'm not done with Marc Jacobs Spring 2015 Collection yet! :D I'm actually saving my favorite piece for last. Is it a little odd to say that I'm most interested in the lip liner out of everything in the collection? I can't help it. I'm crazy about priming and lining my lips so this is a must-buy for me. :)
Marc Jacobs (P)Outliner Longwear Lip Pencil features a retractable, twist-up style packaging with a color-coded end. Unlike the Highliner Gel Eye Crayon, the lip liner does not come with a built-in sharpener. It has a fairly pointy tip so that you can line and define your lips precisely with ease. To avoid dulling, I'd try to turn it side ways to fill in.
There are 3 shades to choose from:
- Prim(rose) 304 – “cocoa spice” or neutral rose;
- Honey(bun) 302 – “rosy nude” or neutral pink; and
- Nude(ist) 300 – “cafe au lait” or brownish nude
but since I have my criteria for choosing lip liner color (has to be lighter than my natural lip color to cancel out the pigmentation on my lips; no MLBB or darker shade; no brown undertones), I went with Honey(bun).
Honey(bun) is the perfect neutral lip liner color for me. It has a bit of pink, a bit of peach, and a bit of beige that mutes my lip color just enough that it doesn't interfere with the lip color I put on top. It pairs well with nude, pink, or peach lipsticks or you can wear it alone under a sheer gloss or tinted lip balm for a long-lasting nude-ish lip look.
The unscented, cream-gel formula is supposedly infused with collagen to help fill in lip lines and prevent bleeding. When applied lightly, it does smooth out the texture of my lips and create a lasting canvas for my lip color. However, I notice that if I go over it in multiple layers, the pigment will eventually fall into lip lines and accentuate them as a result.
The formula leaves a slightly tacky finish so that the layering lip color has something to adhere to. Being semi-matte, it has a tendency to feel and look drying on its own, so I'd always top it with another lip product be it lip balm, lip gloss, or lipstick for added comfort and a healthier lip appearance. I'd also apply it over exfoliated and moisturized lips only to enhance the glide and alleviate dryness.
The application provides a near-opaque coverage in one pass and one that lasts for hours on end! Not only does it make my lip color glide on better and look better, it also doubles or triples the wear time. My Dior Addict Lipsticks usually last only a couple hours on me, but with Honey(bun) underneath, the color stays perfectly intact for another 2-3 hours. :)
Here's how it looks on me. I like that it has enough color so that I don't look too pale or washed out. My lip lines seem accentuated a little in the picture due to layering but I was just trying to show you the true color of the lip liner. For normal everyday usage, a light coverage should be sufficient. :)
So how do you like Honey(bun)? Did you pick up anything from the Spring 2015 Collection? I'm debating whether I should get the #Instamarc Light Filtering Contour Powder since I rarely contour my face. I swatched it once in-store, and my goodness, the powder feels so incredibly velvety, like it's not even powder at all! The Shape Contour and Blush Brush No. 15 is also calling my name. The bristles are so soft and it has a good size and perfect shape for applying cheek products! :)
