About a week ago I was invited to a NARS x Steven Klein workshop at Central Chidlom (thank you ka, Khun Nan!). It was my first makeup workshop I attended so everything was pretty new and exciting (and a little awkward) for me. I got to meet NARS International Makeup Artist Lena Koro who's really sweet, patient, and so down-to-earth. She even helped me find my imaginary crease. :D If you didn't know already, there are so many gorgeous new pieces in the NARS x Steven Klein Holiday Collection. I'll show you some of them that I was able to play with in this post. There's one item that I think is a must-have but you have to keep on reading to see what it is! :)
The Setup

All NARS goodies! How I wish I could take everything home with me! :D

Makeup demonstration

MUA Lena Koro at work using the new pieces from the Steven Klein Holiday Collection! She explained everything so clearly and so professionally while still being humble and friendly. :) Below is the finished look on the model. She's flawless!

Play time!

So many gorgeous items from the collection but my favorite piece is the Despair Cheek Palette! :) So sorry for the lack of swatches. I was just too busy playing with them that I forgot to take pictures. ^_^”
With fellow bloggers

I feel so old and out-of-place. I also feel awkward for wearing a red dress when NARS' color theme is black and white. ^_^
MUA Lena Koro at my station

See what I mean about her helping me find my imaginary crease? I can still hear her say “it's riiiight here!“. Her favorite eyeliner pencil is Mambo by the way which was what she used on me as a base.

And she used the #49 Wet/Dry Eyeshadow Brush to blend the liner. I had to post this photo because I look so funny here! :D I think I sort of like the eye makeup I did myself on my left eye (your right) better, though. More me I guess. The right eye was still unblended of course. :)
With the MUAs

You may be surprised to learn that prior to the workshop, I'd never had any makeover done or makeup applied on my face by anyone besides myself before! Nong Benz (left) and Lena Koro (center) were the first MUAs to ever give me a makeover!
Last but not least

Lots of thanks to Nong Oui for being my partner in crime. Isn't she goooooorgeous! :)
Availability
NARS x Steven Klein Holiday Collection is available now at all NARS counters and NARS online at NARS Cosmetics, Sephora, Nordstrom, and Central (Thailand).
Disclosure: I was invited to the NARS x Steven Klein workshop by the brand's PR agency. I was not paid or compensated for my participation nor was I required to publish this post.
I don’t think you look out of place, her dress was red and white too, only a little more burgundy.

LOL yeah I think you’re right! ;) Story of my life, though. I’m always awkward; never really fitting in anywhere!
Ah, what an amazing event! NARS’ holiday collection was way tempting this year. Love the dress you’re wearing and the glamorous look she created on you is stunning! xo
Thanks, Jen! Did you pick up anything from the collection?
No, I didn’t! But it was very hard to pass up ;)
I can see what you mean about feeling out of place in the dress. Many bloggers or celebs, wear the designer or get information from PR about the items before an event (or so I hear). That means they can strategically plan their looks. At least you stand out from the pack though!
Youth is truly wasted on the young… le sigh.
Why don’t we have all have that model’s skin! UG, skin envy.
Same here, Erin! When I saw her bare skin for the first time I couldn’t believe how flawless it was! Didn’t even look real!
You look lovely Jaa :-)
I personally don’t like faking a crease. We should embrace what we have, and I do love the look you did yourself. LOL! That eye palette though. I’m definitely eyeing that!
Thanks, Lily! <3 I'm totally lemming the cheek palette!! Hoping to get it for Christmas! To Me, From Me. LOL.
It looks like a lot of fun!! Actually I like your dress best, a little bit of colour is always a plus in my book ^_~ I also love the pictures you took!
Thank you, Olivia! You’re too cute!! :D
The event looks like fun. Honestly, if you had not said anything I never would have thought you were any older than the others ;-) I love your dress and the eye look you did yourself. I’ve also never had anyone do my makeup for me but Lena did a good job on yours; It’s more of a dramatic nighttime look. There are a lot of great pieces in this collection but nothing that I absolutely have to own.
Thanks, Kelly! The event was fun and I had a great time! Lena is truly a professional from the way she applies makeup to the way she explains things. Truly a great experience. :D
It looks like it was such a fun event! I’ve had a handful of makeovers, some were more successful than others, but it’s always interesting to see how a professional approaches my facial features. I’ve had some great advice that really changed a lot for me.
Ahhh I really enjoyed this post!!! First time to see you in full figure! Oops sorry, I was fangirling lol. You silly, you look gorgeous in that dress and your skin was glowing! And helloooo to your partner in crime!! Does she blog too? hihi.
Ah! So cool, Jaa! I’m so happy you had the opportunity to go to this cool event and get your makeup done for the first time!
This event must be fun!! I think you look gorgeous, not in the slightest bit out of place :)
Thanks so much, Rachelle! Long time no talk! How have you been?! HNY!
Glad to know that you enjoyed yourself!
Very much! :D
