I have been using eye cream and eye serum for years but none of them has really made much of a difference on the condition of my under eye area. When I received these Oxygen Eye Masks that supposedly help to tighten and brighten the skin under eyes and reduce fine lines and wrinkles for review, I had my skepticism but I went ahead and started the treatment course anyway. Honestly, I wasn't really expecting any improvements but by the end of the course, I was amazed at the results! These masks really do make a noticeable difference on the appearance of my under eye issues!
VIIcode produces two versions of eye masks — VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask and VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask for Dark Circles. The regular Oxygen Eye Mask has a white & minty green box whereas the one for dark circles has a white & black box.
Each box contains 6 pairs of masks (12 masks total). For best results, the brand suggests 3 treatments per week (so each box will last you 2 weeks) and you're supposed to continue the treatment until you finish 3 boxes. In short, within the span of 6 weeks, you should be able to see improvements on your under eye area.
Each pair is wrapped individually in a sealed foil packet as shown above and below. Inside the packet, the mask is laid out nicely on a thin plastic tray with an indentation that conforms to the shape of each individual mask.
The mask itself feels soft and flexible. It has a clear backing that you can peel off with ease to reveal a slightly thick silicone-gel texture on the underside of the mask (think a super soft version of those tacky, removable credit card glue — strong but non-permanent adhesive and without any residue). The mask materials seem to be made of high quality ingredients and everything was well-designed so that it is quick and easy to use. For reference, the eye pads are made in Germany and the gel efficacy are made in USA. I did not detect any fragrance on the mask.
On the back of the box, you will find detailed instructions for use that include text description and illustrations. Basically, you first clean your face, then apply the masks under your eyes and leave them on for as long as you need but not longer than 8 hours.
I prefer using the mask at night when I sleep for a few reasons:
- To achieve maximum benefits, I try to keep it on for close to 8 hours if possible. Might as well use it when I go to sleep! :)
- The mask's dimension is quite large, thick, and bulky for my under eye area (as you'll see in the photo below of me wearing it). Wearing it during the day does not feel comfortable and sometimes can be too cumbersome to use. The edges of the mask can also feel quite irritating at times when it's applied too close to the lash line. I do not feel any discomfort, however, once my eyes are closed. Hence, another reason to wear it to bed!
- The adhesiveness isn't very strong, especially for the Dark Circles mask. It would become loose and fall off easily after a few hours if you apply it during the day where you move around a lot. I don't toss and turn much when I sleep so it stays on better on my face at night. If you do, try covering it with an eye cover so that it stays in place until you wake up.
VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask
VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask is slightly longer, narrower, and thinner than the Dark Circles mask. The silicone-gel layer is also thinner so it adheres and conforms better to the contour of my under eye area. It has a mild cooling sensation when you first put it on but it vanishes soon afterwards.
Results are immediate. The next morning my under eye area felt so soft and smooth but more importantly, it felt refreshed, nourished, and incredibly hydrated! I wish I had tested it in the midst of winter where the skin around my eyes was so dry and lifeless! For those who live in cold climate, I think these masks would be perfect for keeping your under eyes in its optimal condition!
Even though the brand suggests completing 3 boxes for maximum results, I witnessed an improvement on fine lines and wrinkles under my eyes as soon as I finished my first box. Fine lines were significantly diffused and I find that my concealer doesn't crease as much anymore compared to before the treatment. I don't have severe wrinkles to begin with but I could still see that the mask has helped soften them. They are not that noticeable anymore when I smile or laugh and that makes me absolutely satisfied with the results.
I can't speak much of the impact on puffiness as it is not my under eye concern. I honestly wouldn't know if it has made any difference. I did notice a brightening effect, though, albeit slightly. If you have severe dark circles, perhaps the Dark Circles mask below might be a better option for you! :)
VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask for Dark Circles
VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask for Dark Circles is the “chubbier” version of the original Oxygen Eye Mask. It is shorter, wider, and rounder. The silicone-gel layer is also thicker so you kind of have to press it down a little harder to improve adherence. It also has a faint cooling sensation that dissipates soon afterwards.
Since my fine lines and wrinkles have already been improved by the original Oxygen Eye Mask, it was hard for me to tell whether the Dark Circles mask has had any effect on them. What I can tell, however, is the obvious brightening effect! I purposely went to bed late for a couple of nights in a row to test the effectiveness of the mask. Normally I'd wake up with tired eyes and sallow skin, but with this mask, that didn't happen. The next morning I could just see that my under eye area was bright and radiant as well as healthy and hydrated! I almost couldn't believe it. I don't want to sound too excited or exaggerated but this mask really worked.
Below you can see how each mask fits under my eyes. The left side is VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask for Dark Circles and the right side is VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask. The Dark Circles one is rounder and overall chubbier! :)
I have only recently finished the treatment course, though, so I can't vouch whether the results are only temporary or permanent. I'm hoping for permanent but that may not be realistic. So far, I honestly love amazing results these masks have given me but there is one major drawback: the price. The VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask will run you $55 per box whereas the VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Mask for Dark Circles is at $58 per box. To complete a full-course treatment, you will end up paying $165 or $174. A little steep for something that you essentially use once and dispose. At this price point I'm much more inclined to use them only for occasional pampering session than regular treatment! :)
VIIcode O2C All-star Oxygen Eye Cream
In the press kit, I was also given the VIIcode O2C All-star Oxygen Eye Cream deluxe samples. If you think the mask price is high, wait until you hear the price of this eye cream — $1,015 for a full-size jar! Ouch!
The eye cream has a bouncy gel-cream consistency that is easy to smooth out on the skin. It sinks in immediately and does not leave sticky or oily residue that would interfere with your makeup. It does not have any scent as far as I'm aware. I have just finished my last sample tube and so far I have already seen a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles under my eyes which goes to say that this cream works much faster than all my other eye creams I have used. I feel that this eye cream is more of a “permanent” fix than the mask but using them in combination would probably be the best way to achieve maximum benefits.
My review today may sound like a complete sellout but if you've been reading Hello Jaa for a while, you know I tell it like it is. If a product is good, I'll say it is good, and if it's not, I will tell you why. These masks and eye cream have given me positive results that I felt compelled to share them with you. The only thing I'm not too happy about is of course, the price! It's a little out of my reach right now, especially for the eye cream, but for the mask, I can see myself splurging on occasion!
